A New Life - Serving the LORD in Community Services

I have been a Christian for more than 20 years. In the past, I just lived a normal Christian life in my own ways. I never thought of serving the Lord. I just spent most of my time occupied with my own interests. As the popular song goes "I did it my way…."

Five years ago, during one Sunday Service praise and worship, the song ""Jesus came to serve but not to be served." touched my heart deeply. That moment, I felt so guilty knowing that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to bridge the gap between us and Him. How could I do less than serve Him completely? My heart was crying to the Lord. I confessed and also asked him for forgiveness. Then I realized that I needed to do something for God's glory. I prayed and asked the Lord to help me open my heart to welcome Him to be Lord over my whole life. I also prayed and sought God for His plans for me.

God is faithful. He answered my prayer. In 2004, at one Sunday service, Brother Kim San announced that volunteers are needed at TLCS. At first I was so delighted and believed that God had a plan for me to serve Him now. Hallelujah! But later, I was a little apprehensive as I knew my own limitations. So I didn't have the courage to move on. A few days later, the Holy Spirit spoke to me: "This is the time which I have set for you if you are willing to serve now." I remembered in 2 Corinthians 12:9: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." With this encouragement, I knew that I need to deny myself, take up the cross and follow Jesus. I decided to obey Him and be ready to move ahead. I was also prepared to surrender my life to the Lordship of Christ. I believe that God loves me and His will is always the best for me. At last, I walked by faith and not by sight. I believed that if I do everything according to what God says, I will be in the center of His will when He wants to use me for a special assignment.

Thank God for leading me to TLCS. I was given an opportunity to serve as a volunteer. Since then, I slowly learned to sing Christian Songs in different dialects. I do not have the talent for singing. However, by God's grace I was able to do so. Praise God! Through the Ladies Fellowship, I learned and practiced the Mind of Christ such as humility, self-control, gentleness, patience and good communication with people. I could see very clearly that the Lord's guidance and blessings are upon me.

In 2005, with the Holy Spirit's anointing, I took charge of teaching Line Dancing in TLCS. I knew that God has opened more ways for me to serve Him. I told the Lord I want to serve Him more. God is great. With His grace and love, the Line Dance group was formed. I believe that God has His purpose for starting this Line Dancing classes. It would draw non-believers to join in this activity instead of asking them to church. I really rejoiced in sharing the dances during the lessons as it is the first time I was presented with this assignment.

I want to thank God for his guidance. He leads me to choreograph the dance steps with Christian songs and all the line dancers enjoy the footwork. Even the non-Christian friends fall in love with singing Christian songs and dancing. Now some of them have also begun to volunteer in community works. Occasionally, they also attend our fellowship meetings. It is my heart's desire that one day these non-believer friends will be touched by the Holy Spirit and receive Lord Jesus as their Lord and Personal Savior.

It is now almost four years since I started serving the Lord. I trust that my serving is pleasing unto the Lord. May the Lord continue to bless and prosper my work to bring Him glory. Amen.
